Journey

Journey is the one screen in iWhisk that looks backwards. Everything else is about the next meal. This is where you find out whether any of it added up.

Your focus for today. One suggested action, with its reasoning attached.
Your rank. Where you sit on the kitchen ladder, and what stands between you and the next rung.
Four counts. Skill Points, current rhythm, foods rescued, stations practiced.
Kitchen impact. What you used, rescued and tossed over thirty days, and an estimate of what that was worth.
Seasonal recognition. Which season you are in, and what it does and does not award.
The Skill Point ledger. Every award with the reason it was given.
Core stations. Six areas of technique, and how far each has come.

2026 is the year we try this outEverything described in this part is real and running today, and it is also on trial. Through 2026 we are watching how ranks, points and rhythm behave in actual kitchens, and we fully expect to change some of it on the strength of that. The complete set of features arrives in 2027. If a part of this feels wrong, or slow, or beside the point, that is exactly what we want to know: tell us.

Two numbers, and they are not the same number

Journey shows a Skill Points total and a dollar figure on the same screen, and they answer different questions.

Skill Points are progress. They cannot be bought, given away, or exchanged for anything. They have no cash value.
Kitchen impact dollars are an estimate of money your household did not throw away.

They are never added together, and neither one converts into the other.

Seasonal recognition, and the 2027 line

Journey runs in seasons, four to a year, and tells you which one you are in. Right now that is the 2026 Beta, and the app is unusually direct about what that means: this season helps iWhisk learn what feels useful, and beta activity never creates a badge or an Annual Distinction.

The current season still shows you a target. Summer Kitchen Beta asks for cooking on three different local days across two station areas, and it says plainly that Skill Points, receipts and ratings do not decide it. Beside that sits Annual Distinction, 0 of 4, with the line that Annual Distinctions begin with the 2027 four-season cycle.

So the honest reading of the whole block is this: the seasons are running, the counters are real, and the awards do not exist yet. That is a strange thing for an app to admit on its own screen, and it is the right thing.

Hi, this is Ray.

The Journey borrows the language of a professional kitchen. The stations, the brigade, the ranks that run up to Chef Exécutif. I want to say plainly what that is, and what it is not.

It is not a comparison. The cooks and chefs who have given their working lives to this craft hold something no app can hand you: experience earned across long hours and longer days, and the durability to hold a standard through service after service, year after year. Nothing in Journey stands beside that, and it was never built to.

What I wanted was for the goals here to point in the same direction the industry does. Toward technique, consistency and care, so that getting better at home means getting better against a real standard rather than an invented one. That is meant as a tribute, and I hope it reads as one.

Several of my closest friends work in restaurants. This is written with them in mind, and with a great deal of respect for everyone who does that work.
