Cook Mode, one step at a time

The step you are on, large enough to read from across the counter, with the ingredients still in view.

Where this is in iWhisk

Open a recipe, then Cook

Cook Mode strips the screen back to the one thing you need: the step you are on. The ingredient list stays beside it under Keep in view, because the moment a recipe hides the quantities is the moment you start scrolling with wet hands.

A Step timer sits under the instruction wherever the recipe states a time, and Up next runs alongside, showing the transitions coming so none of them arrives without warning.

A counter at the top right shows where you are, so you always know how much is left. Exit Cook Mode returns you to the recipe without losing your place.

5.01.1

Guided Cooking, included for everyone

What this page describes is Guided Cooking, and it comes with every account. It needs nothing set up, nothing generated and no plan: the instruction you are on, the ingredients that belong to it, a timer wherever the recipe states one, and the transitions coming next. Recipes without a lane plan continue this way from the first step to the last, and that is a complete way to cook rather than a degraded one.

5.01.2

Cook with Cooper, and what it adds

Cook with Cooper is part of Plus. It takes the same dish and coordinates it: Cooking Lanes running in parallel, the dependencies that tie them together, every timer held in one place, and hands-free control while your hands are busy. It does not replace the mode above, and it is not a better class of recipe.

You pick between the two when you sign up, under Cooking Guidance, and you can change your mind later in Settings. Neither choice is a skill level, and neither limits which recipes you can cook.
