Part 05 · Using it · The loop

Recording a cook

One tap that updates your kitchen, your history, and every future suggestion.

Where this is in iWhisk

Open the recipe, then Record this cook

This is the loop. Everything iWhisk does gets better from it.

There are two ways to do this, and they are not equivalentCooking with Guided Cooking is what advances goals, Skill Points, stations and rank. I already cooked this saves your personal history only. Both are honest records and neither is wrong, but if you always tell iWhisk afterwards rather than cooking with it, your Journey will stay flat and nothing on screen will explain why. The app states this on the recipe itself, and it is the single easiest thing to miss in the whole product.

5.06.1

What one tap updates

  • Your Kitchen: what you used and what is left.
  • Your Journey: Skill Points, goals, rhythm, station progress.
  • Your Meal Planner: today's planned meal is marked cooked.
  • Your suggestions: what iWhisk offers you next.

Afterwards

  • How did it turn out? One tap. Detailed notes can come later.
  • Review ingredients used. Confirm what is left. Nothing changes until you save.
  • Save leftovers. Adds them to your fridge with a servings count and a use-by date.

If you forget to record it, open the recipe and record it when you remember. Late is better than never.

Notes for Chef Cooper

Every recipe has a notes field, up to 2,000 characters. Write what your household actually did: the swap that worked, the real cooking time in your oven, who liked it. These are private to your household, not shared with the recipe, and not used to train a shared model.

Record the last thing you cooked

Even retrospectively. It is the single action that improves everything downstream.
